“Crossroads of Curiosity” Exhibition at the British Library

David Normal’s lightbox murals, Crossroads of Curiosity (2014 Black Rock City Honoraria, and 2015 Global Arts Grantee), that were central to the “Souk” in the 2014 Man base, are traveling to London for a 5-month exhibition. The murals, which were based on 19th century images uploaded onto Flickr Commons (via The British Library), will be displayed in the Piazza of The British Library starting on June 20. Don’t miss the opening of the exhibit!

I love the title where Burning Man and the British Library are on the same line. Although this piece is typical of a lot of Art that makes it to the Playa, sometimes I do not fully appreciate what a piece is about until I get the backstory, which unfortunately is what happened here… One reason why I make it a point to attend the Desert Arts Preview. (I missed it that year) I really liked these in the Suke, had I known then what I know now, I would have spent a little more time to fully appreciate them…

It would be great if a scheherazade recounted the backstory…

Four days left until the opening and the install is almost complete. Come say hi and get an inside look at the creative process that goes into making this happen.
