Bryant Tan, aka Level, is Burning Man Project's Director of Community Development. He leads the Placement Department, the City Planning arm of Black Rock City that designs vibrant neighborhoods in Black Rock City and builds relationships with the groups that bring interactivity and infrastructure. Prior to joining Burning Man Project's year-round staff, Bryant worked for a decade with the City and County of San Francisco and for community-based nonprofits based in the San Francisco Asian Pacific Islander and LGBTQ communities. He has extensive background in public policy, grant-making, building resilient communities, strategic planning, and community engagement. Bryant is a former President of the San Francisco Entertainment Commission. He holds a Masters in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B.A. in Ethnic Studies from UCLA.
